Reminding myself: You must live a life to paint a true emotional portrait of it in your art. It's not just about the creating--its about telling the truth. The truth breathes. It moves people--stirs souls. None of this is in vain. The pain, the disappointment, the heartbreak, the rejection, the boredom, the loss--all of it will serve a purpose in the context of a larger story. You feel a little lost because you don't know the ending yet (and there are no spoilers), but you will get through it one moment at a time and the sun will rise for you again.

Teamwork challenges & poor communication at work
I think what I'm finding most challenging at my job right now is the constant presumption from my colleagues (especially managers) that if I'm asking or checking something, it must be because I myself have zero understanding of it and need to be led like a child, rather than because I am either flagging something on behalf of, or asking a strategic question on behalf of, someone else, given that my entire role in the team is to be the person that connects different teams with each other so we don't miss anything.
Today for example. There's an issue where, because one of the managers wasn't careful with her language, she told the technical team to 'ignore all requests from that client because we don't have the budget to do that work', and they took her at her word and have been ignoring with no response or explanation ANY requests, emails, or phonecalls from that client for the last 2 months.
What that manager meant to communicate was "if that client sends you a request, please let them know, politely, that we can't do that right now because we haven't got the budget." But that wasn't what she said, and she hasn't checked up until now.
So I checked, and I identified the issue, and, because she's a manager and I'm not right now - in my old job I was, and would simply have given the command - I asked if she could verify that she wanted them to send a message like that when a request comes through.
Well, instead she's come back telling me that I shouldn't be dealing with any requests from them because I'm not in the technical team, and the technical team know what to do.
And I'm just sitting here wondering if she even read my message because clearly the technical team do not know what to do, because they haven't been doing it, and that's either their fault or your fault, and if they're ignoring client requests, who does that ultimately end up harming?
ALL of us. Our company. YOUR boss. YOU, for miscommunicating in the first place. YOUR STAFF, for ignoring a client for MONTHS.
I am here giving you an out for what's about to become a BIG problem down the line when that client starts telling all their contacts that we don't communicate and don't respond to work offers or provide any service, and can't be contacted AT ALL, if you don't sort it now, and your take is instead "stay in your lane, don't worry about it"?
And if I go past her and do it anyway? The company reputation gets saved, sure. But I probably then end up getting in trouble for undermining a manager!

Improve your social media and life experience.
I’ll share a few insights from podcast Modern Wisdom, a talk with Gurwinder Bhogal named “Psychology lessons to understand people better” and add my personal twist.
Mostly that podcast is about social media and how people in social media tend to act.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Your social media feed can be hell.
Most posts in social media come from people being impulsive, usually people aren’t thinking about what they post, we just think of something or take a picture and upload it right away. This makes most people’s social media feed awful (we’re mostly seeing people arguing, complaining, people wishing for possessions or vacations, for money, senseless memes, and so on).
Because we tend to behave like others, and to do things that people around us are doing, in social media we can easily be seen as idiots, and we can consider that most people we follow are idiots because of what they post (especially when we don’t know the people we’re following), this happens because most posts are just unplanned impulsive posts. We’re creating ourselves an awful daily bias when we keep seeing random news feed on our cellphones and computers.
Tumblr media
Social media can lead to an awful mindset and overall unsatisfaction.
How to avoid this?
We can easily filter all social media choosing whose posts we want to see and whose posts we don’t want to see (you can keep people as friends even after muting them, your best friend’s posts might be awful even if you like them). The algorithm was created to show things we want to see, but if we can identify things as completely useless, and as damaging for our mental health, it’s always a good idea to start filtering out many people’s posts.
Try to have a vision of the bigger picture, though.
This can however lead us to just seeing the same information always and creating a negative thing, a constant confirmation bias, it can be countered by changing the algorithm on purpose, check sources you’d never check, there are some ways to do this; searching for people, videos, books, or podcasts that we believe we’re going to dislike, and checking them out, seeing those videos, listening to those podcasts, or reading news from completely new places, there are apps that give you random news daily. Other way I think of this is asking acquaintances (mostly the ones we tend to disagree with) to suggest a video or someone they follow on social media and checking out new different information we believe we’re going to disagree with, it’s likely we’ll find useful and new stuff out there (different perspectives to bias ourselves from different sources), this could even be done with movies, watch a movie you think you’ll dislike from time to time, you’ll be surprised.
This could be applied outside of social media, hanging out and talking with people we don't talk to often, or ever.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. If you have a talk or debate, agree on the definitions first.
Ever had a talk or argument about something where it seems you’re talking about something completely different from the other person? It’s vital to learn the definitions and to agree on them in order to have a useful talk with someone else, if this is not done, you and the other person can be thinking about completely different things and having a strange conversation that leads nowhere.
When you want to have a meaningful talk, it’s useful to do this too, agree first about definitions, say what you think something means, hear the other person, understand each other, then move forward with the conversation.
Additionally to this, it’s always good to really try to understand definitions, we sometimes are not very sure what we ourselves are talking about, and it’s hard to express our ideas unto others.
Tumblr media
Try to always understand and agree on definitions.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Happiness.
Triple check that your happiness doesn’t depend on things you buy or things you will buy, possessions will only make people happy temporarily, believing that possessions and things like traveling will make you happy will only make you be more unsatisfied and less happy overtime.
We have the tendency to always want more, but perhaps it’s much better to find happiness in the little things and trying to enjoy the present more, without always trying to think how happy you’ll be in the future because of “x” or “y” thing is going to happen, or because you’re buying this or that thing. The present is what matters the most (for sure, plan for a better future too, make sacrifices to achieve things).
It’s great to have small goals that we can achieve overtime, like learning a language, or why not, saving money to buy a new car (because of its usefulness, not only because it’s a new car).
Extra note here, we shouldn’t spend too much time dwelling in the past, or thinking how things could’ve been. When we spend too much time in social media we tend to bias ourselves into thinking about this, and about the future, because that bias makes us want to have things that other people are sharing (because we’re constantly being reminded about it from other people’s posts).
To avoid this we can try to get busy with work/ studies and doing hobbies or things we enjoy. Using less social media must always be an objective too (IMO).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. The solutions we’re used to might not be the best.
Ever had pain in the wrist from using the keyboard and mouse too much? Well, the usual mouse and the usual keyboard most people use aren’t ergonomic at all; there are some good options out there people don’t even know exist like using a pen tablet instead of a mouse, or a vertical or trackball mouse.
Tumblr media
I personally use a pen tablet as a mouse 50% of the time, it's much more ergonomic for the wrist.
This idea can thought about or be applied in infinite ways.
For problem solving, it’s good to do some research about solutions to problems we have or to things we do daily that we didn’t know even existed. For example, buying something easy to use like an air fryer for cooking, or cooking more using the microwave or a toaster oven (a toaster oven can be used to cook meat with no effort).
As far as new gadgets go, personally I believe that the invention of electronic ink readers is completely amazing, instead of having 50 books that you don’t even know where to store anymore, you can just have a tiny device like a Kindle with thousands of books in it.
An example some people never thought about, if they don’t want to be distracted by their phone at work, then can use “do not disturb” mode so it only rings with phone calls, tell their friends and family to only call them in case of emergencies, and put the phone in a drawer away from them, or even better, in a different room, or have a colleague at work keep it away from them.
Last example, for people like me who often want to take notes on the go, there are apps where we can dictate whatever and have the voice convert into text, this might seem like a silly simple thing, but it’s amazing, and it saves time and effort.
Better solutions can be found all the time, and for anything, sometimes we just need to invest some time into researching and having better time and resources management.
Tumblr media
Learning new things and from different sources makes us more creative and better at problem-solving.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion (summary).
Stop having a hellish awful bias from your social media, improve it or just stop using them and do something better with that time and energy.
Agree on definitions, know what you’re talking about, make sure others do too.
Don’t rely on possessions and money to be happy.
Take the time to improve different aspects of your life, one by one.

Quote
When he speaks of “reality” the layman usually means something obvious and well-known, whereas it seems to me that precisely the most important and extremely difficult task of our time is to work on elaborating a new idea of reality. This is also what I mean when I always emphasize that science and religion must be related in some way.

i do feel like i have some sort of different view of chris and joshs relationship than a lot of people but i think it's because i view their entire friendship sort of built around the experience of being like the two REALLY neurodigergent kids in school and being the only two who KNOW what being neurodivergent is unlike the rest of the group who have symptoms and are unaware. and it becomes a very them vs the world sort of thing, which is why i think everything becomes so devastating and warped after the prank. that was the first time it wasn't them vs the world. it was the washingtons vs everyone else. not only did chris turn his back on josh for likely one of the first times, he also turned his back on the other washingtons, joshs favorite people in the whole world. but so much of their friendship beforehand to me is based off of the fact that they are the only two people they feel like they can open up to, or really experience the world with, due to their matching issues.

Isn’t our existence enough?

My vote isn't about me.
I'm not basing my decision on the fact that I'm trans, or blue collar, or in debt with student loans. I'm not basing it on my want for a better health care system or because i believe in bodily autonomy as I do have ovaries and a womb.
I'm voting Harris because I don't want people to be targeted. Because I don't see a way forward by going backwards. I know I would survive another trump term somehow because I may be little, but I'm scrappy. However, there are a lot of people who simply wouldn't survive. Not because they are less than me, but because they are at a much higher risk than me of being targeted by trump supporters.
I'm doing it for the wider community and for those who do not know any better and trust everything that comes out of trumps mouth. I do pity those fools who will face the end of their life either with regrets a plenty or entirely alone and unchanged. It's unfortunate that these people are willing to stop themselves short of growing into a fully formed human. Also, for the immature fools who have yet to understand the stakes because they, too, have a certain level of privilege that protects them from the consequences of their actions.
My vote is for the bigger picture.
The inches forward. For the momentum building, that will still take time and energy and intention even after Harris is in office. For those who can't vote yet but want to. For those who are denied the privilege of voting, though it should be their inalienable right.
I'm voting for tomorrow.

Omo Marani shares new single “Bigger Picture” off upcoming EP – Listen
Omo Marani, the Ghanaian cum Nigerian Afrobeats crooner drops a first single off his upcoming EP. While he hides the title of the EP from everybody for now, his debut release off the catalogue is what he titles “Bigger Picture”.
Listen to “Bigger Picture” on Digital Platforms: https://tr.ee/prD9XKqOq2
The song carries a lot of heavy emotions; Lazbeat, the Producer of the song seems to ride along same sentiments with Marani and brought out the best side of him to exhume all the storylines in both English and his second native language, Yoruba.
“I chose to go with ‘Bigger Picture’ as the song title because it embodies the idea of looking beyond and delving into the deeper understanding of life and what Nature may offer you in the future. The song is meant to educate the listeners about the complexities of life and the integrity you could hold on to, for future sake,” Omo Marani explained.
Watch Lyric Video: https://youtu.be/j3kVeVOQgq0?si=dPVkPCDHhVVm7iWD
Day in day out, there are different stories from different upcoming artistes about their struggle on their music journey to the top; most of them never had it easy to hit mainstream, but then again, the task comes with a lot of betrayals and (unnecessary) rifts between them and connected sources from their contemporaries to families and even people outside the box — all these Marani was able to dovetail into this song “Bigger Picture”. The song artwork for the song itself even speaks volumes.
Collins Maruf, Founder of Showbiz Clique “CollinWud”, has his strong roots hailing from Keta in the Volta Region while his other side comes from Nigeria. Not to lose touch with both countries of his origin, he blends a fine mix of languages from Ghana and Nigeria to accentuate messages he puts in his music while maintaining the Lingua Franca, English and pidgin as well. “Bigger Picture” typically adds flavour to this brand he’s been fine-tuning for a while.
Omo Marani, who leads his clique of Artistes and other Showbiz Createurs in his fold, has been able to birth an annual concert in his home-ground, Keta, he plays annually during the Hogbetsotso Festival – a strategy he is using as an indie artiste and rising talent to build his own network and as well create opportunity for the less privileged (local) talents from his Region and across Ghana to also unearth themselves.
In the 3rd year running with the event this year, Omo Marani seeks to this festival which he has named “Keta To Da World”, a household gig that everyone across Ghana and beyond can resonate with.
